Cameron the Scientist; Exploring the Elements of Elephant Toothpaste

Cameron is a budding young scientist. Like most children, he views the world with a curious ferocity that is only carried into adulthood by those to choose to question the unknown and re-test the known. Scientists are natural critical thinkers; those who constantly push the boundaries to gain insight to help better mankind one way or another. Scientists are super-heroes. Therefore, Cameron, is a super-hero. <3

I have had the absolute pleasure of photographing Cameron since he was a newborn. Every year, his mother and I come up with a plan to execute the perfect session to capture what excites him and what he’s currently enthralled with. This year, Cameron is four. Four is a magical year where questions seem to never end. I remember my own children asking question, after question, absolutely so curious about everything, when they were his age. What better way to capture that than with a science experiment?

Stephanie, Cameron’s mother, always has the best session ideas and I love collaborating and bringing her ideas to life!

After we discussed the details of which experiment, etc., I started to brainstorm the session and drew out the basic design elements. Luckily, I knew Baby Dream Backdrops had the perfect backdrop. I was able to gather other “science-y” props from around the house with a little bit of imagination and food dye.

Taking safety measures, we moved the session outdoors, instead of in my studio, and Cameron was clad in goggles as well as the most adorable, oversized, yet still-so -tiny, gloves. Like most sessions, I captured some of the behind-the-scenes and posted them to my Instagram/ Facebook stories.

To say it was a blast, is an understatement.

Happy 4th Birthday, Cameron!

Jenn

Thank you for being so amazingly talented and humble! Even if you weren’t…even if you were the most arrogant person EVER I’d still be like, “yea, you’re right – take my pictures!!” ❤️ReplyCancel
