A Newborn Session for Brooks
Brooks was born on a beautiful Florida summer day. When his Mommy contacted me to photograph his newborn session, I was beyond elated to capture such a fleeting time in his life. Brooks was about 5 days old when I arrived for his newborn session and was an absolute angel the entire time. I don’t think he fussed at all! There is something so wonderful about babies. So calming and healing- then again I LOVE babies.
Brotherly Love
There’s a special bond between all siblings, but there’s a deep love and admiration for an older sibling that the younger sibling holds. You aren’t always able to see it with adults due to the baggage of life’s lessons, however, in young children, it’s always present. The younger child dotes on the older one, wanting to emulate their every move. They look up to them as their role model, protector and best friend.
This was the same for my brother and I. I was the baby of the family. I looked up to my brother and wanted to do everything he did. We fought just like normal siblings- sometimes more than others- LOL- but our mother always told us the same thing;
“You are the only siblings you will ever have. You are guaranteed best friends if you nurture your relationship.”
This quote was also generally followed by some sort of master speech filled with mom-guilt that made my brother and I feel terrible for fighting in the first place. haha This is the same speech I give my own children – constantly. ???? Our son wants to do everything our daughter does, annoying her to no end.
The photo of Brooks holding his brother’s finger completely melted my heart. At a few days old, this baby gripped onto his older brother’s finger. Yes, I know it’s a reflex, blah blah blah, but the spiritual part of me melted into a big puddle of mush. Such innocence. Such unconditional love in this photo. May these two always be the best of friends. <3
