I cannot begin to tell you how ecstatic I am. I have the biggest, goofiest, grin on my face! This morning, I had the honor of photographing a fellow photographer and friend’s gender reveal. Due to schedule conflicts and busy lives, we decided on an impromptu session- at her anatomy sonogram appointment. 🙂
Tucked into a small exam room, Ashley, her husband Ernesto, and I anxiously waited for the sonogram tech to enter the room and begin her magic.  The tech, a tall, young, blonde, promptly sat and started prepping Ashley’s little baby belly. I asked her if this was her weirdest ultra-sound appointment  (as I’m standing in the corner with a camera up to my face) and she luckily said it wasn’t. Phew…win! ;D
After listening to the steady strong heartbeat at 158bpm, Ashley started to get excited that her guess of it being a girl might just be a big possibility. The tech, whom I am pretty sure was named Emily…or  was it Molly?… quickly dissuaded Ashley that the high heart beat is purely a myth *hmph* and that it’s still a 50/50 chance.  A second later, she announced that the baby, stretched out like a little sun bather, was in fact a little girl.
At that very moment, excitement filled the room and I felt so completely blessed and honored to have been a part of something so special and so very beautiful.
After Emily* finished the ultrasound, she left the room as fast as she had entered. Ashley immediately called her mother and shared the wonderful news that they would be welcoming a baby girl into the world. It was emotional, and beautiful. I instantly thought of my mother and the joy she felt when she found out our first child was a girl. 🙂
I can honestly not think of a better way to start my morning and I am still in such a state of euphoria due to Ashley and Ernesto’s contagious joy. 🙂Â
So sweet!!!! Congratulations on a baby girl!
