Sneak Peek: A Magical Maternity Session in the Woods

As you’ll notice within the next couple of weeks, I am desperately trying to catch up on blogging all of my sessions from over the holidays and the beginning of the year. One of my goals is to become MUCH better about blogging current sessions… I just need to catch up first. 😉 haha!

SO. 2016 is a big year for me. It’s the year that I am finally making the leap and following my vision of strictly sticking with newborns and whimsical children (and family). I have always been a huge romantic and an even bigger book-worm. The idea of whimsically styled  photo sessions  makes my heart so entirely happy, it could burst. I instantly feel like the little girl in Despicable Me “It’s so fluffy, I could die!” 😀

My best friend since elementary school, Kacie, (you’ve seen her on the blog with her adorable little boy) happily obliged to a tortorous day of modeling for me. The weekend of Kacie’s baby shower we both realized that she wasn’t going to be pregnant for too much longer (she had dropped a LOT) and decided to move up the session to the very next day. I had a specific vision in my head of purples, fur, flowers, and dark woods. I just-so-happened to find a purple dress in the back of my mother’s closet (Thanks Mom!) that would be perfect for my vision. 4 yards of fabric and a couple hours later, I had the perfectly altered maternity gown.  I also used my great-grandmother’s fur capelet and put together a flower garland & headpiece for the shoot.

Everything was absolutely perfect…except for the weather. The COLDEST FLIPPING DAY OF THE YEAR and the big kicker? It was raining. GAH! Being the incredible CHAMP that Kacie is, she agreed to just go for it.  Seriously, it could not have been more perfect. Well, it could have been warmer and not as wet, but the pictures turned out amazing.

I’ve been trying to edit this session in between client sessions so it’s taking a little longer than it normally would, but I am so very thrilled with the results.

Here is a little sneak peek. 🙂
