A Storybook Session for Alex
Alex celebrated a very special birthday this summer that required a personalized storybook session in her honor. Alex’s Mommy and I talked and planned the perfect session for her transition into “little-girl-hood” from her previous preschooler stage. Butterflies, princesses, flowers and the color purple all came into play.
Bringing the Session to Life
Once upon a life, I was a seamstress. I decided that I would bust out my old trusty sewing machine and create Alex a dress that was sewn especially for her session. A flowing, purple, princess gown, adorned with butterflies. The look on her face when I showed her was absolutely priceless. She felt like a real fairytale princess.
I can’t begin to tell you how incredible it feels to have the capability of making a child feel magical. It reminded me of all the other storybook sessions I have had the honor of creating (and have not had the discipline of blogging about- LOL) and how their parents told me how special their kids felt when they saw their photos.
For example, this little cutie from a few years ago was absolutely certain that the bluebird on her shoulder was real and she couldn’t wait to ” go visit that photo lady and her pet bird” again. 😉
Alex did such a great job listening to instructions and playing along with all of the “butterflies”. When the session was complete and it was time to take off the dress, she asked if she would be able to keep it. I explained that I was going to hold onto it so other little girls could wear it for their sessions too. Alex thought about it for a millisecond and then came to the conclusion that sharing the dress with other girls was a great idea. <3
“That way they can feel like princesses too!”
My heart melted. How sweet is she to think of others and want to share that special feeling with others?
