“Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.” – an old proverb, translated in many languages and given credit to too many people to count.
“Say ‘Hey! Look here!’, and you get one photo of your child. Bribe your children with ice cream (okay, and possibly a happy meal- I know, I know, total #motheroftheyear here) and you get a whole dozen photos.”- A bit of advice from a desperate mother, aka: Me, Jenn Carroll. 😉
Our Saturday night consisted of us being completely lazy. This week had been insane and I needed a day to do absolutely nothing, and the children needed a lounge day as well. This week marked the second week of school and their little minds and bodies were still adjusting to the constant work demands after a lazy summer.
Around 7pm, I noticed that it wasn’t raining anymore and that the sun was a beautiful orange and pink. Photo opportunity!
“Hey kids! Want to get dressed up and get your photos taken?!”
We had literally been in our pajamas all day.
“Um, no.”
“Okay. Well, do you want some ice cream?”, their attention perked, although I could tell they weren’t completely hooked. “What about some ice cream AND a delicious, horrible-for-you-I-should-feel-like-a-bad-mom-but-lets-throw-some-apple-slices-in-there-and-call-it-healthy Happy Meal?!”
“YEAH!!”
“Okay. Get dressed. You take the photos for Mommy, and then I’ll get you the ice cream and Happy Meals.” – I really don’t know why I refer to myself in the third person around my children. “Me, Mommy. You, kid. Ug Ug Caveman talk, make fire.” God bless them when it comes time to write papers in school about varying point of views. I’m going to have them all confused. *Makes note on outstanding list of things to work on*
Amazing photos!! You really captured a precious moment …
Thank you so much!! <3
